Job Type: Full Time
Conducts various inspections (building, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC) at construction sites to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and standards.
Conducts building inspections of various industrial, commercial, and residential dwellings to ensure compliance with applicable Richmond Code.
Conducts building inspections at construction sites to ensure compliance with state approved plans.
Reviews construction plans and specifications for Class 1 and 2 structures prior to inspections to ensure compliance with project specific requirements, including those related to design.
Inspects all electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work for compliance with codes and applicable ordinances for commercial, industrial and residential installations.
Authorizes Richmond Power and Light (RPL) to connect, disconnect or re-connect power on a property or structure that has been deemed safe.
Reviews various site improvement plans, including blue prints for code compliance, and researches codes and ordinances to determine applicability to plans.
Assists Richmond’s Building Commissioner and Department of Code Enforcement officers with issuing various tickets and/or Stop Work Orders.
Submits Building Construction and Housing Inspection Reports that review compliance with Richmond Code.
Initiates contact with residents, owners, renters, or other persons to explain and correct various problems, such as those threatening public health and safety or creating a blighting influence to adjoining properties.
Assists architects, engineers, contractors, and others in resolving code issues.
Maintains inspection schedule, results, comments, and reports in electronic permitting and inspections software (BS&A).
Prepares various inspection reports for the Director of Infrastructure and Development.
Periodically performs other duties as needed or assigned.
