Indiana University East is accepting applications for a full-time Catering Coordinator. Employee performs responsible and skilled work involved with the preparation, cooking, and delivery of a wide variety of detailed food items for catering events and dining hall (campus dining). The person in this position is responsible for the daily operations of all foods for catering on and off campus. Work involves ensuring standard sanitation procedures, guest satisfaction, as well as cost and quality standards are maintained. Guest satisfaction revolves around the high quality of food, along with its appearance and the overall catering experience. This person must follow all culinary standards (The Den) set forth by the Director of Food Service, along with Serve Safe guidelines. This includes sanitation, preparation, maintenance, cleanliness and all other applicable standards of service. This person may be assigned a variety of other responsibilities such as, but not limited to, developing menus or creating new recipes. Work is usually performed under the supervision of the Director of Food Service.
This position is mainly Monday-Friday, daily hours with some nights and weekends.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities include :
Prepares food, in accordance with catering order forms, consistently producing high quality and timely delivery of food items. Maintains and supervises accurate counts on all food items prepared, ensuring no discrepancies in amount of food needed verses amount of food ordered. Supervises staff to ensure each catering event is completed with 100% accuracy. Builds and maintains relationships with the students, staff and faculty and uses these relationships with open communication to enhance their wants and desires for the department. Works with the Director to incorporate community needs.
• Coordinates food service responsibilities to have meals prepared at scheduled times. Sets-up and verifies that food items and events are ready to customer specifications.
• Ensures adherence to recipes and product specifications.
• Ensures daily catering food is ready for events on time with 100% accuracy.
• Ensures all customer needs are met during catering events.
Maintains catering website, making any adjustments or changes needed through our marketing team. Maintains and monitors our catering email. Responds to all customer requests and emails pertaining to catering within a 24-hour period. Completes all pricing and billing accurately on a weekly basis. Collaborates with culinary team to continually improve catering menu for campus events.
Reviews inventory to assure that adequate supplies are available, requisitions food and/or orders any other supplies for inventory.
Maintains a clean, sanitary work environment. Complies with federal, state, IUE and Serve Safe sanitation regulations and procedures. At beginning of shift, completes inspection of the entire kitchen area and coolers and promptly acts to correct deficiencies, according to set forth procedures and regulations. At end of shift, cleans and sanitizes work station area which include, but are not limited to, walls, chafers, cooler, freezer, prep table, cambros, catering storage areas, and small wares used in daily production.
Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
Job Type: Full Time
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with at least two (2) years of experience in a food preparation position encompassing all phases of food preparation, customer service, and kitchen operations. Serve Safe or other recognized sanitation certification or ability to acquire one is mandatory. A degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program is desirable but not a requirement. A valid driver license.

The expected starting salary range is $31,200 to $35,360 annually ($15.00 to $17.00 per hour). IU offers an excellent benefit package.
